Access to specialist support

Each extra care supported housing scheme has access to:

Housing officer

A housing officer will either be based at or visit the scheme on a regular basis. They are usually contactable during office hours Monday to Friday.

They will:

  • oversee the day-to-day running of the scheme
  • undertake health and safety checks
  • report and monitor any maintenance work
  • manage your tenancy and will liaise with you over any concerns.

Telecare service

If you have an urgent unplanned care need and require staff support in an emergency, you can get support and help 24 hours a day by pulling the telecare alarm cord or using a pendant button. The call goes through to a handset which is held by staff and ensures that they respond as quickly as possible.

The council has an assistive technology team. A social worker can refer you to the team to assess you for equipment to help you maintain your independence.
