What are physical disabilities?
You are recognised as having a physical disability if you have a physical impairment - a “limitation on a person's physical functioning, mobility, dexterity or stamina” - that has a 'substantial' and 'long-term' negative effect on an individual's ability to do normal daily activities. (Equality Act, 2010).
People with physical disabilities require extra care, support and assistance. In Tower Hamlets, the council is committed to enabling people with physical disabilities to maintain their independence at home and in the community.
Services are available in Tower Hamlets ranging from giving advice and information to long-term residential care.
